VIP Power Half Hour tickets!

Want to get an early bird view at the incredible clothing priced below bargain basement prices AND help support NOLOSE?

Fifty VIP donors get half an hour to shop before the crowds. This will allow us to make sure that the space we have rented is paid off and every other cent is set to go to NOLOSE.  Some brands we have in stock this year are Igigi, Asos, Buffalo, Dorothy Perkins, Torrid, and more, some of them with tags still on!  This event only happens once a year and these tickets will go fast!

Can’t buy a Power Hour ticket? Don’t worry! There will still be huge amounts of clothing available for general admission ($10), we just recommend that you line up early. Doors open at Noon. We will also be receiving new donations during the Flea, so as the day goes on the stock will actually grow!  General admittance is paid for at the door.

cosmicrubric asked: Hello! I was wondering about purchasing things at the market - is it cash only or is there any way to use a card?

Answer:

You can use a card for the flea!  Though bring cash to support our independent vendors.

BIG FAT FLEA FAQS

Where/When is this event?

The Fat Girl Flea Market is on Sunday, May 13th from 12pm-7:30pm at the NYC LGBT Community Center- 208 West 13th Street, NYC on the 3rd floor. There are elevators and the space is wheelchair accessible.

How Can I Donate?

Donations can be dropped off at the LGBT Community Center at 208 West 13th Street in NYC on Saturday May 12th between 5pm and 9pm, or on Sunday May 13th (the day of the event) from 12pm-3pm, only.

Please limit your donation to clean clothing sizes Large and up.

We also pick up donations! If you live in the NYC area we will come to you. We also have a few pick ups scheduled in PA, NJ, and Long Island. Fill out this form and we will get back to you!

Do I have to pay to get in?

Yes. Admission to the Fat Girl Flea Market is $10. This event is a fundraser and all profits benefit NOLOSE. Once you pay your admission, you can come back in as many times as you would like. Shop, brunch, shop.
We will also be releasing a limited number of VIP pre-sale tickets. Stay tuned for more info on that!

Are the clothes expensive?

Nope. Not in the least. They are cheaper than most metro thrift store prices. And we are talking great finds from some of your favorite brands, plus smatterings of vintage.

Can I bring my boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend/child who isn’t fat? Do they have to pay?

The more the merrier! Bring your shopping buddies of all sizes and supportive partners are welcome to come! Everyone has to pay the admission fee, and the Flea has something for everyone. Really. Actually. For the first time, the Flea is making a huge effort to source men’s clothing! Shopping and fun for all!

What kind of clothes are you looking for?

We are looking for clothing sizes large through 6x+ of all kinds. We ask that donations be clean (washed, please), free of pet hair, and as close to smoke/odorless as possible. Give us your vintage! Give us your formals that you only wore a few times! Give us that dress you loved! Give us those cardigans, winter coats, jeans, business suits, and more! But, please only give us clean, clothing sizes large and up with an emphasis on plus sizes!

I have a bag of sport socks/ripped leggings/baby clothes/size 8 business suits, would you want them?

No thanks! We aren’t interested in any of those things. Just clean, plus size and size large+ clothing, in good condition.

Are there fitting rooms?

There is a communal, body-positive try-on area behind a large screen. You are also welcome to drop trou in the middle of the room. Dress like you are going to a sample sale, easy leggings and easy layers. There may be some type of area for you to put bags and jackets, but it will be unsupervised. Hopefully it will be warm enough that we don’t need more than a light jacket! Come on Spring!

Why the name change?

In an effort to make this event a fun shopping space for all genders, we decided to drop the “girl” and emphasize what a BIG and amazing haul you all will score! Fatshion for all! At the root we are still the same inclusive shopping event created by Deb Malkin.

I want to get involved! How can I help?

Volunteer! We are looking for folk to join our street teams, help out the day of the event, and (if you have a car) drive around to collect clothing. All volunteers get in free! Fill out this form for more info.

Have a question that we didn’t answer here? Feel free to ask us more!

Anonymous asked: Greetings! I have 5 large bags of size 30-32 clothes (mostly business & some casual) in excellent condition ready for donation. A few years ago a lovely Nurse Practioner from your group picked up my donotion & I have cleaned out the closets once again! By any chance will you be having pick-up service anywhere near Mount Kisco, NY (20 minutes north of White Plains)? If not, where, what times & when will donations be accepted? Are you able to give a receipt for tax deduction?

Answer:

We will be announcing drop off dates and times in Manhattan in the next few weeks! We will also be scheduling pick ups in the Greater NYC area!
